Our Practice
About Us![]() In 1989, after five years at a California optometry office, Drs. Regina and Mitchel Strand moved to Connecticut and opened their own Total Vision practice on West Hartford’s Shield Street. Three years later, the practice moved a few miles away to the current location in Newington. Since that time, the practice has tripled in size. Every year Total Vision is caring for more patients than ever before. Today the practice also provides more services, more patient hours, and an additional location at 2020 New London Turnpike (Route 32) in Uncasville. By adding the medical aspects of eye care, Total Vision has become a complete eye care practice. State licensing, advanced training, and the latest equipment allow Drs. Strand to examine and test patients for all major eye diseases and issues, including glaucoma. As primary care doctors, Drs. Regina and Mitchel Strand can recognize and treat most eye conditions and refer patients who require surgery or tertiary care. Making The Most of Limited Eyesight![]() Dr. Regina Strand is among the small minority of optometrists who specialize in helping people with low vision. Dr. Strand’s skill and training allows you to get the most from your vision. People with low vision are those who cannot have their vision corrected to 20/20 with glasses or contacts. For example, if you have macular degeneration, a generic eye condition, or an eye disease you may have low vision. Through magnifiers, telescopes, electronic devices, and other vision aids, Dr. Regina Strand can bring the maximum of sight to those with minimal eye function. The Total Vision Eye Examination![]() A routine eye exam at Total Vision is never routine. Our technicians perform extra tests that check blood pressure, peripheral vision, and other indicators of both eye health and general health. The thoroughness of the exam identifies many medical conditions and sets the stage for treatment. Among the conditions Total Vision can identify are atherosclerosis, diabetes, high blood pressure, and others. Dr. Strand and our professionally trained staff will perform an eye health and vision analysis which includes: The TotalVision Optical Dispensary![]() Our optical lab enables us to combine high quality with the best craftsmanship to ensure you receive the finest fashion eye wear.
